I am an Associate Professor of English at the University of Delaware (UD) where I teach courses in professional and technical communication.
I ask students to not only engage with genres of professional writing, but also how they can write in multiple modes, such as with video or social media. Additionally, I ask students to think critically about the texts they create and interact with because this strengthens their own rhetorical approaches. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a technical writer and those experiences inform my teaching practices from readings to major assignments.

I have a PhD in English (Rhetoric and Professional Communication) and a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from New Mexico State University, and a MA in Scientific and Technical Communication from Bowling Green State University.
I grew up in Michigan and consider myself a proud mid-westerner. When I’m not teaching, I spend my time exploring the Mid-Atlantic/East Coast area near my Kennett Square, PA home with my husband, Chris; my dog, Ramona; and my cat Jags. Please contact me at mmcguire [at] udel [dot] edu and @meghmcg.
