I am an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Delaware (UD). During my time at UD, I have taught a variety of professional and technical writing courses including Document Design, Social Media, Business Writing, Digital Rhetoric, Environmental Rhetoric, Introduction to Professional Writing, Feminism and Design, and Rhetorical Theories in Professional Writing.

Teacher/Scholar

It is important that my students develop a strong understanding of the rhetorical situation, acknowledge the importance of navigating different technology and modes of communication as producer and consumer, and recognize themselves as knowledge makers. The classes I teach center student experiences with the critical topics we address: climate justice, design justice, social justice, technological spaces, and ethical business communication so that they can better understand how the need to communicate is imperative to how we operate in the world. Every student’s experience is essential to how they interact with class materials.

My research often focuses on my work in the classroom. I have contributed chapters that outlined various assignments I have used in different courses to various pedagogical collections. My research is also informed by my position as a NTT faculty member and the issues of in/equities that NTT often face in their home departments and the field at-large.

Away from the Classroom

I live in the “Mushroom Capital of the World” – Kennett Square, PA – with my husband and two dogs. I am a Michigander at heart and  recently become a football fan (Go Birds...sorry Lions!) I like reading (for fun), hiking, working on my backyard, and finding all the projects I can do as a first-time homeowner!
